How
to use Journal Finder
1.
After linking to "Find Journals," type the journal's name in the top search
box (or browse title instead). The results will look similar to this:
1 record
retrieved for the search:
Title begins with "rolling
stone"
Rolling stone

a.
If the journal is
full-text in a database, there will be a link to the database where you
can search for the specific article in the journal that you need.
Note the dates for which we have issues of the journal!
In the example
above, Rolling Stone is available in 3 databases: Proquest
Research Library, Academic Search Premier in Ebscohost, and
MasterFILE Premier in Ebscohost. Issues in Proquest Research Library
are available from 1988 to the present, but fewer years are
available in the Ebscohost databases.
b.
If the
journal is in print or microfilm in the library, there will be a link to
the item labeled "Dakota State University's Print Holdings". Note the
dates for which we have issues of the journal!
- In the example
above, after you click on the link to "Dakota State University's
Print Holdings", you will be shown the description of the
periodical in the Library Catalog. Click on "Show
availability" to find out which issues the library has.
- Print journals
are shelved in alphabetical order by journal title in the
Periodicals collection on the first floor of the library.
- Rather than
using the Find Journals link on this page, you
can search the
Library Catalog to find out if the
newspaper, magazine, or journal is in
print or on microfilm
in the Mundt Library. However, the Library Catalog
does not include electronic journals found in our research
databases. [After clicking on Library
Catalog, click on "Search Library Catalog." Choose
type of search, either title word/s or title beginning with. If type of search is
title word/s,
do not include meaningless words such as a,
an, the, of, in, with, for, from, to. If type of
search is title beginning with, do not include any initial
article such as a, an, or the.]
